How to Successfully Add TEFL to your Resume

If you are becoming or have already become a TEFL certified teacher, you may be wondering how to properly add your TEFL education and TEFL work experience to your resume, making it stand out and landing you a TEFL job in Buenos Aires.
A resume is a very important part in the hiring of an English teacher; employers around the world will look at your resume as a small glimpse into who you are, what you have done, and what you can do. Therefore, it is important to get it right.
- Tailor your entire resume to TEFL; objectives, education, experience should be linked to TEFL.
- Under the ‘education’ area on your resume, add your TEFL course and be sure to include:
Title of the TEFL course
Name of the institute that offered the course
Direction and country of the Institute
The length, including hours of the course
- If you have any TEFL experience, add it under your work experience; explain your title, responsibilities, class size, language level, and any achievements.
- Add a travel section to your resume. This is a great way for your employer to see the countries you have traveled to, as well as that you have experienced other countries and cultures, making you a safe candidate to hire abroad.
- Add a language section if you speak any other languages, even if only at a beginner level. If you are teaching English in Buenos Aires, for example, and speak Spanish, this can be a great advantage to a future employer.
Always make sure that your TEFL resume is clean and clear, features your education and experience in a orderly manner, and demonstrates your ability to be a great TEFL teacher.
