So many families in Buenos Aires consider it very important that their young children learn how to speak English.   Many families send their students to private schools, weekend school, or English secondary schools so that when their children grow up, they have more opportunity in both educational choices and future career paths.

If you enjoy teaching English to children or are interested in teaching English to children, Buenos Aires is a great place to start as many families are looking for private tutors for their young ones.

To get started
, you can apply to various jobs throughout the city using common resources such as newspapers or online job sites or, be more proactive and list your own ad, offering to teach English at the child’s home.

Make sure that you have all the resources necessary such as Spanish books and worksheets, catered to children, as well as things like games and other fun activities that children always enjoy.   Remember, that even some children speak advanced English, so make sure you have activities that are for intermediate or advanced speakers but that will still meet the interests of children.

If you are sending out resumes or cover letters, make sure to list any experiences you have with children such as babysitting or camp counselling, etc… Parents like to know that there child is in good hands.

Be creative in your job search, offer families hours that would accommodate them such as after work hours and weekends. If you have it in you, you can even offer to combine a nanny type position with a TEFL job. For example, if families are looking for someone to take care of their children during the week, offer to combine babysitting services with English classes; this can add a lot to your experience and increase your pay!
