Making Friends while Teaching English in Buenos Aires
While this city can be a little intimidating at first, have no fear, making friends is easy in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Keep an open mind and make sure to try as many new things as possible. Your experiences while teaching English in Buenos Aires will be rich with some of life’s greatest moments shared with people you will never forget.
How can you make friends while living in Buenos Aires?
Sign up for Activities at Expanish: Group activities are a great way to get to know one another and while having fun. The activities board changes each week and include fútbol matches, city tours, tango lessons, and student and staff dinners. .
Participate in an Intercambio (language exchange): Are you taking a TEFL course but also interested in learning some Spanish? Intercambios allow for a Spanish and English speaker to meet and practice both languages at the same time. This is a great way to meet other foreigners and locals in Buenos Aires.

Enjoy an Asado: An asado is a typical Argentine barbeque meant for large groups of friends and family. Get together with other Expanish TEFL students, invite your neighbors, and enjoy a traditional dinner while making new friends.
Go to the Cinema: Everyone loves movies and they are great place to get a big group of people together. A good idea is to meet up before at a café so you can get to know one another eat or drink something, and later head to a movie that everyone enjoys.
Go to a Park: Walks through the city are a great way to figure out how to successfully navigate around Buenos Aires and take in some city sites. The parks are always a great place to spend time with friends and enjoy the day. Many Argentines will bring blankets and mate and just sit, talk and enjoy the local atmosphere.
Buenos Aires is a great city to live while getting your TEFL Certificate in Argentina.
