Wondering where you can teach with your TEFL certificate?

If you are thinking about becoming TEFL certified, there are a myriad of teaching abroad options that will open up to you. Teaching English as a foreign language has become a very popular way for teachers to travel abroad to different countries and make a living while doing so. Every year, teaching opportunities continue to rise around the world and it is important to know your options.

It is important that the TEFL certificate you are taking is internationally recognized, meaning you can teach in most other countries with it. Keep in mind, there are certain countries that do require you to have a TEFL certificate along with a bachelor’s degree, in mostly any subject (investigate each country individually). If you are certified with an internationally recognized TEFL certificate, the world is your oyster! From here, you can investigate into countries, learn about their cultures and traditions, day-to-day life, etc, and choose which country suits you best. Besides from the investigation, talk to friends, friends of friends, family, or anyone that you may know who has traveled, studied, or taught English abroad for ideas.

Depending on where you are certified is also a great way to decide where to teach. For example, if you are TEFL certified in Buenos Aires, the opportunity to find work is extremely high, plus if you also learn Spanish on the side, you have the advantage to employers in the city who often find it advantageous to hire a teacher with some Spanish knowledge. Most importantly, find a country and city that interests you and take on the great adventure of teaching abroad!
