Looking to escape the GFC? Look no further than Argentina!

The GFC (global financial crisis) has hit many of us right between the eyes with few options in order to avoid it and now we are wondering what to do.  What many are doing, seen in the tourism number increase in Argentina, is heading to Buenos Aires to teach English, escaping the crisis altogether, working and living successfully abroad.

Why has the sector of teaching English in Buenos Aires not been affected? Was Argentina not affected?
Argentina was affected by the financial crisis and, like the rest of world, is working on putting the pieces back together. However, English teachers in Buenos Aires have not suffered as there have been no real pullbacks in this sector.  The cost is not so grand that individuals or companies cannot afford to pay for English classes a few times a week. Also, many are finding that this is the time for English as the world is suffering through this crisis together, bring many countries and cultures closer together and therefore raising the need for English speakers.

Can I survive on teaching work in Buenos Aires?
Like anywhere, if you work a part-time to fulltime teaching schedule in Buenos Aires, you can fully support yourself while you are here. You yourself must decide on what kind of lifestyle you would like to have and then choose the amount of hours you must work in order to achieve that. Many TEFL teachers in Buenos Aires live perfectly well on a 30-40 hour teaching week, with some left on the side!
