Buenos Aires is always at the cutting edge of offering interesting and often educational, artistic or cultural exhibits, and this August, the Centro Cultural Borges, located in the Galerias Pacifico mall, will be doing just that.  One of the most famous scientists of all time will be portrayed this month in an historic-photographic exhibit, honouring his life as a scientist, his findings, and most importantly, his time spent in Argentina.

Charles Darwin en la Argentina
2009 has been declared the Darwin year world wide, where countries around the world will celebrate Darwins’ theories on evolution and the scientific evidence that all species have evolved over time through the process he called ‘natural selection’.  Darwin traveled throughout his life, researching his theories in different parts of the worlds, and finding evidence for evolution; Darwin traveled through Argentina between 1833-1835 researching dinosaur fossils, flora and fauna, the inhabitants, making great additions to this natural selection and evolution evidence.

The photography exhibit will feature groups of photos portraying the life of Charles Darwin, his journey through Argentina’s Patagonia region, the theory of evolution, and more.

Why teach your TEFL students in Buenos Aires about Darwin?

This can make for a great student – teacher outing, taking your classes out of the classroom, plus, your students will most likely of heard of Charles Darwin and it adds something very interesting and educational to your classes.  Encourage your students to check out this exhibit and then use it in conversation for the following class; or, take your students down there and make a class happen right in the exhibit.
