Teaching English as a foreign language and volunteer in Buenos Aires

If you have ever thought of teaching English as a foreign language or are currently working as a TEFL teacher you may be thinking of how to devote your TEFL knowledge and skills in other ways, besides a 9-5 teaching job.  A highly popular and therefore recommended form of doing so is to combine your TEFL with a volunteer placement abroad.

In Buenos Aires, there are a myriad of volunteer placements available to TEFL teachers including working with local youth, working in a local villa (slum), education women and children, and more. In this way, TEFL teachers may choose to volunteer exclusively or alongside a regular TEFL paying position, and give back to the community in which they are living as well as gain unique work experience while doing so. If you are TEFL certified, there are always a handful of volunteer options available to you, each unique and catering to a different area in the volunteer sector.

Most TEFL teachers will agree that participating in a volunteer placement allowed them to discover more about the culture, converse deeply with locals, meet extraordinary people, and add credible work experience to their work curriculum. If you are TEFL certified but also have other education, such as business, arts, etc, you may combine your knowledge to create more focused TEFL experience for the people you are aiding.  For example, if you are volunteering in a youth centre, combine your TEFL with art classes, educating the youth in more ways than one, and making more out of your own TEFL volunteer experience.
