Buenos Aires is a city of millions of people, 13 million if you take in to account Greater Buenos Aires, and it has all the characteristics of any big city (lots of people, rapid transport, big buildings, never ending apartments, international business, shopping streets, thousands of restaurants, etc.) Despite all this, Buenos Aires is relatively safe and most tourists come and go without any bad experiences.

The Dangers & Annoyances of Buenos Aires That You Should Watch Out For!

The city is lined with traffic day and night and the cars, buses, and motorcycles can seem endless. They often drive fast and sometimes frantically so be careful when you are crossing the street, at a light or not, and think twice about jay-walking or cutting sidewalks.

Although Buenos Aires has a large middle class, petty crime still exists in the city and is actually quite common, and remember, as a foreigner you are a much more attractive hit. Do not walk around with expensive items, keep your bag closed, do not put valuable in your pockets, and only keep the money you will need on that outing, on you.

Retiro Bus Station, located in Retiro, is where buses arrive and depart from to other cities throughout the country. You will not doubt come here on your travels, so listen up: Retiro is known for theft. Keep an eye on your bags at all times, keep personal items close, and do not forget it for a moment.

There is a lot of fake money that floats around Buenos Aires, and although usually no one is deliberately trying to rip you off, this money does circulate and if you do not know the money it is easy to end up with one of these bills and not get rid of it. Scratch the icon’s clothing to check for ribs: ribs are good, no ribs are bad!
