Riding the Subte in Buenos Aires

The Subte (Subway) of Buenos Aires is a cheap, efficient, and often entertaining mode of transportation in the big city.
At times it can be crowed and hot, but considering it is only $1.10 pesos and you can get to almost anywhere in the city, it is worth the ride.
The Subte Lines:
There are 6 lines (A,B,C,D,E, and H) each with identifying colors that will take you to different parts of Buenos Aires. Each line opens everyday at around 5:00 am and closes around 11:00 pm.

Historic A Line:
As the first metro line in Latin America, Linea A (Line A) still has its original 1913 wooden cars with beautiful tiled panels and decorations in each station. Make this a special trip; it is a blast from the past and a true delight.
Other Lines:
- B Line: De los Incas Parque Chas – Leandro N. Alem
- C Line: Constitucion – Retiro
- D Line: Congreso de Tucuman – Catedral
- E Line: Plazo de los Virreyes – Bolivar
- H Line: Once – Caseros

Subte Sights:
It is very common to see people selling socks, chocolates, mints, Neil Diamond records, scissors, stationary, and even underwear. As they walk by they place the item on your lap, this is not a gift. If you want it, buy it, if not they will come back and pick it up. If you are “lucky” someone will be performing on the Subte, while it may not be the best music you have ever heard, it is normally quite entertaining.
Sometimes it’s the small things that you will notice about life in Buenos Aires that will make your experience truly unique and enjoyable.
